Honey it closes in 15 minutes, theres 100,000 works of art to see. Cmon!!!!

i know i know – adam went to a museum. He broke the no museum rule. But Clark W Griswald thought it was cool enough to go see so i thought id check it too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Kq6w-McPHk

it wasn’t bad. Id give it a B. Maybe a B+. Too much old stuff. Needs a rollercoaster or something. But seeing the original Gummi Venus de Milo was epic. Lots of cool Egyptian stuff too. Gave me an idea.

vive le tour

For many years ive come to work each July totally spaced from being up late watching the Tour. Im not much of a bike racing fan, but man i love this event. Hands down the best sporting event ever. Olympics?? Meh. AFL? Blah. NRL? Pfft! The only thing that can compare to the Tour was when the Illawarra Steelers – led by the mighty Rocket Rod Wishart - made it to the semi finals in 1992.

Yeah so anyway i really enjoy watching the race. Awesome scenery in the countryside and those mountain stages through the Pyrenees are b.tchin. I also like Gabriel Gate’s cooking lessons from each region of the Tour before each nights SBS broadcast. Last year i watched the finale in Paris, France live from Kensington, Australia and said “fcuk it – im so going to be there next year” And today i did.

Good story here on the delayed start http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/tdf2010/news/story?id=5408206 Great initiative from the man, damn those rules but. 28 million is 28 million too many.

we'll paint all our portraits in brush-strokes of yellow

I can now add Paris to the list of cities around the world ive needed medical treatment in. Epic. Guess 7 weeks of craziness caught up with me. Throat was like sandpaper and when i coughed i saw stars. Epic. But the drugs are cheap here – 2 euros for a big bottle of cough syrup with codeine in it but i didn’t read the instructions properly about the drowsy effets. Actually no i couldn’t read the instructions about the drowsy effects cause they in French. So i drank away and maybe too much. 14 hours later i woke up. But i was much better so went to see the world’s largest wifi antenna and the worlds craziest roundabout and also Toy Story 3 in 3D – but in Engrish.

Fyi – the croissant picture is a major one. I have a list of stuff to do on world travels and one of them is to eat a croissant in Paris. Yesterday i did it. Tasted like all the other croissants ive ever eaten but still. Other events in this series of pointless travel adventures include Sangria in Spain. Sushi in Japan. Irish whisky in Ireland. Portuguese tart in Portugal served to me by a Portuguese tart.  Turkish bread with turkey on it in Turkey. A Danish in Denmark (i know i know). Greek salad in Greece. A Long Island Iced Tea in Long Island. Etc. Im sure you get the picture. Or at least you will.........

Today im just gonna walk around and tomorrow im off to see some bike race.

Fyi – spain >> france. Sorry Johann but its true.

id sell my soul for a record

July 15 was my 33 1/3rd birthday and i HAD to go record shopping. I was in my future place of residence – San Sebastian – and not sure if i could find a record store.

Some way cool people found one for me and i went along. Nice record store – looked like the dude who owned it was a major collector. Turns out that Jack Black’s character in High Fidelity was modelled off this record store guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz1ST5WTTVw I asked to look at a Clash 7” behind the counter. He eyed me up and down then said yes. It wasn’t in the best condition so i gave it back and asked to see the rest of the 7” box. He said no. Then walked away. OK.......... Then i kept browsing and was going to leave cause this guy is obviously a mummys boy whos never seen a naked woman besides his mother (last night) and was really annoying – possibly French. He was acting like comic book guy on the Simpsons. Real jerk to everyone in the shop. So i found an original copy of Van Halen’s Women And Children First for 10 euro and decided to just buy it and get out of there. Id be shattered (and sean would kill me) if i didn’t buy t least one record on my 33 1/3rd birthday. As im paying the mum fcuker he tells me that his shop isn’t a shop and that its not really for browsing and if i want something i should look on his website and send him an email – he’ll then decide a price and tell me a time that i can come to the store to look at it. I dropped the cash on the counter and walked out. Yep – must be French.

So i found another record store – in a department store called FNAC. Its like Myer but theres no boring sh1t. Just tvs, books stereos, dvds, Playstations, etc and vinyl. Glorious vinyl. All new. All in mint condition. AND ALL ON SALE. MOTHERFCUK!!!!!!!!!!!! Calm down adam. Calm down.

At first im shattered – its all mid 70s American AM radio records. Michael McDonald or Boz Scaggs anyone? Then in the corner is the section i wanted. Its chock full of awesome stuff and im sad to say that i only got one thing. But its the 10” 2010 re-issue of Queens Of The Stone Age’s Feel Good Hit Of The Summer SCORE!! I missed out on it when it was released in May. Yay x 100. And a Japanese reissue of the Springsteen Live In New York City CD in mini LP format WITH THE OBI STRIP!!!! And its sealed – no humans have touched it. Epic.

Then got a few cds and dvds that i wanted. One European Springsteen greatest hits compilation that i didn’t know existed that i already have all the songs off but not in this format with this packaging with these photos and without the Spanish writing on the back. Cool.

So yeah – happy birthday to moi. Now i have to wait till im 45 and then i buy a 7”. And a Ferrari.
