osiris. isis. horus.

Ive been asked a couple times what the whole Playmo thing is about. So i thought id give a history lesson to the newcomers – and a refresher to those who have been at the par tay for a while.

2005 October

Courtesy of a redundancy package, Adam takes off to New York to see 4 Springsteen and 3 u2 shows in 8 days. Night before he leaves he is reminded of an iPod fansite that had people post photos of their iPods in front of world famous landmarks. Adam likes the idea. Adam searches for something at home to replicate the idea. Adam finds an Astro Boy figurine he acquired on that ill fated trip to Taiwan a year earlier. The photos go down well with the peeps – the music fans loved the song lyric references. Especially liked were the ones of Astro with Hugh Hefner and his three ladies. Yes people – i met Hugh Hefner. I shook his hand and said thank you so much. FYI – Bridget > Holly > Kendra. Its fact Emma – don’t dispute it. I also have a copy of that months issue signed to Astro. This trip was summarised in an infamous 47 page PDF that was sent to a select few. I don’t have it anymore though.

2008 January / February

Adam took off to Tokyo, LA, Vegas and back to Tokyo. Gene Simmons, Johnny Drama and Drama Queen were present and accounted for on the Vegas leg of the trip. Unable to talk to many people, Adam still sent the Astro photos as his method of communicatingness. No words. Some people “got it”. Mt Fuji = win.

2008 July / August

Another redundancy package (FML), Adam leaves for America the beautiful / land of the free again. This time one of his accountants joined in the frivolities. 1 month. Gigs included Bon Jovi (2) Billy Joel (1) John Mellencamp (2) Eddie Vedder (1) Bruce Springsteen (4) Sheryl Crow (1) Live (1) Collective Soul (1) Foo Fighters (1). Cities included NYC, Washington, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, LA. Ferris Bueller and Springsteen’s childhood homes were visited.

But.........

The night we arrived in New York i lost Astro. Somewhere between JFK and the hotel. I was shattered. Still am. Always will be. I wasn’t going to replace him because what was lost can never be replaced. Then a few days later we were at the worlds most bestest toy store ever – FAO Schwartz – and i came across Playmo. Astro can never be replaced, but we need to turn the page to chapter 2 eventually. The rest is evident.

2010 June to present.

To be continued.

So theres the history lesson. Theres more writings and stuff from the trips pre 2010, but i don’t have them.

Childishly yours,

adam
