The Dead Sea, Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan all the way back in early December.
Jordan is b.tchin. Really expensive to get to on its own, but tacked on the back of a relatively cheap Egypt trip and you have yourself an amazing experience. I really wanted to see the Dead Sea and get to Petra as id heard great things from those who had been there. Petra of course is featured in one of 1989s greatest movies (and a top 20 of mine) – Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. One of the greatest closing scenes in a movie ever. Except the closing scene in Point Break when Johnny Utah lets Bodhi go out for one last wave in the ‘50 Year Storm’ and then the waves take out Bodhi and then Utah throws away his FBI badge into the waves. Damn makes me nearly cry every time. So yeah that really didn’t suck to go see The Treasury in Petra.
Wadi Rum was awesome to drive through in 4WD’s. Another amazing view of the stars that night. I like that.
Id like to see more of the middle east one day. Unfortunately its not the safest of places to go, but that kinda makes me wanna go even more. Like Kashmir. And that will happen. Huh?
